Agree, we have the Indianapolis Indians and not only do they play in a beautiful ball park, but for very liltte money, we took our girls to a ball game where we sat picnic style on the lawn behind left field, my daughter got a happy 6th birthday wish on the scoreboard, we saw a well played game, and yes fireworks. Also, my oldest daughter is in girls scouts and the Indians (Indianapolis version) held a girl scout night where the scouts got to all sit together at the game, watch fireworks after the game, and then camp out overnight in the outfield while watching a movie on the scoreboard screen. Love the things the minor league teams do.

Todd: Used to take my daughter to Chicago every sumemr for a week of Cubs' games, Chicago-style pizza and hot dogs, museums, etc. When she was 16, she was wearing her Mark Grace uniform shirt, pony tail flapping, to a Sunday game when we were stopped at the gate by a lady with a clipboard. Would you like to be in our fans-on-the-field program today? she asked. Kate had no idea what the woman was talking about, but I practically snatched the pen out of the woman's hand to sign up for her. Kate (and the other kids) got introduced to the capacity crowd ( At first base, Katie Mueller from Tomahawk, Ky. ), she got to stand with Grace at first base, with their matching jerseys (they gave her a Cubs hat), and throw warm-up grounders before the game started to the other infielders. I asked her later what Grace had said to her. Throw one to Ryno, she said. (She liked only Grace and Sosa and had no idea who Sandberg was, but liked it because he was closer.) Anyway, I hope Ryno gets the Cubs' job some day because my daughter once threw a couple of grounders to him. Grace signed the baseball and gave it to her, but I sorely wish she'd trotted over to Sandberg and asked him to sign it, too. Back at Paintsville High, Kate said the guys in her class were at first skeptical and then envious when she showed them the photos. She still has the baseball and she and her husband take my grandson to Lexington Legends games all the time. Nice park, but it ain't Wrigley.
